BASIC BARRIER

This design tool was developed in order to enable consultants to design flood barriers specific to particular project requirements and derive the dimensions of the structural components.

It is a basic flexible tool which can be adapted by industry to fit particular needs, know-how, innovations etc.

The key characteristics of this basic tool are:

         User selects material of pavement surface

         User selects material of flooded surface

         Loading on flooded face is site specific

         Loading on closed barrier is traffic specific

         Mounting mechanism to match operating requirements

         Material durability defined by user

         Cost of Barrier can be adjusted

Simply supported beam This spreadsheet computes the bending moment and shear force diagram for the case of a straight beam simply supported on the two ends.

Cantilever beam This spreadsheet computes the bending moment and shear force diagram for the case of a straight beam fixed at the base.
